Editing your own work is by far the most difficult as it requires you to sit in judgment of your own writing. To be so clinically detached can be tough, even for the most seasoned of all veteran authors. Yet it’s an art that we must hone in order to mature into serious authors.
For starters, don’t be overwhelmed by the mandate. When you are done and you sit down to edit, you’ll come to realize that writing an ebook is not different from writing your blog. Everyone thinks they can edit, but it’s a skill that requires substantial experience and a seasoned, professional.
Yet you would need a second pair of eyes to go through your work because even though you may think your work is a masterpieces, there could be blind spots that the other person – an experienced editor – along can spot. When you are editing, give yourself time to reflect and ponder.
The bottom line is: edit rigorously. Often, you may stumble upon portions that need more work – this is okay. Better you found them before your reader did. Always aim for the highest standard possible. If there is a simpler word to express the same thought, don’t go for the weightier one. The basic idea is to inform not impress.

All books start from a small idea. Dreams expand on that idea and inspiration will execute it into an ebook. Let your idea feed itself. Let it become bigger and sharper in focus, nurturing it as it grows bigger inside you.
Figure out all the elements that you want to weave into your story. Research diligently and put aside all interesting ideas, tips, tricks and topics that you want to incorporate in your book. Shelf those in neat cabinets as you plan your book.
Fiction writing is about getting creative. The purpose of this genre is to simply entertain. An author has unlimited poetic license with a fiction ebook.  Remember that fiction gives an escape route from harsh realities of everyday, mundane life to both the author and the reader. It must, therefore be creative, delightful, resourceful and artistic. Creatively craft a plot that will intrigue, delight and entertain your readers and hold their interest from the first page to the last.
The story line and the main plot are the backbone of fiction writing. The characters must be sharply etched out. The story should be a pot-boiler and have elements of being a page-turner.
No doubt, fiction writing comes with its own set of rules and challenges.  Before you begin, you must have a plan of action, a broad story line in mind. What genre do you want to dabble in – love, adventure, fantasy, mystery etc.?
Good fiction comprises of several interlinked elements – plot, characters, setting, scenes, and dialogue, and of course theme, which is the most critical element of good storytelling. Be sure to have all of these in place to be able to tell a story that everyone wants to read.
